Privacy Policy

Short version: SvaNotes collects only what it needs to work. We never sell your data. Your notes are private and belong to you.

1. Who we are

SvaNotes ("we", "our", "us") operates the SvaNotes mobile application and the website at svanotes.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — name, email address, and password when you create an account (or your name and email via Google / Apple Sign-In).
  • Shared video URLs — the URL of any video you share to SvaNotes in order to generate a note.
  • Note content — the AI-generated notes, tags, and any edits you make to them.

Information collected automatically

  • Device information — device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
  • Usage data — which features you use, how often, and app performance metrics.
  • Crash reports — diagnostic data if the app crashes, to help us fix bugs.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or photos unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature.
  • We do not collect your social media credentials or passwords.
  • We do not track your location.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To fetch video transcripts and generate AI-powered notes on your behalf.
  • To save, sync, and display your notes across your devices.
  • To improve the accuracy of our AI summarisation.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g. password reset, account notices). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve app stability.

4. AI processing

When you share a video URL, SvaNotes retrieves the publicly available transcript of that video and sends it to an AI language model to generate a summary note. We do not store the raw transcript beyond the processing window. The final note is stored in your account only.

Your notes and transcripts are never used to train AI models— ours or any third party's.

5. Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Service providers — cloud hosting, authentication, and analytics partners who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. You can delete individual notes at any time from within the app.

7. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) to protect your data. Access to user data is restricted to authorised personnel only. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take every reasonable precaution.

8. Children's privacy

SvaNotes is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of any marketing communications.

10. Third-party links

Our app may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g. the Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok platforms). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Please review their own privacy policies.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or by email. Continued use of SvaNotes after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
